Review of Ruggles of Red Gap (1935) by Dena S — 24 Feb 2010
A wonderful comedy and the best kind of pro-American propaganda, an homage to egalitarianism that hits all the right notes. Laughton surprises in a wonderful comic performance that includes a tear-jerking recitation of The Gettysburg Address.
I was set to be disappointed because I'd waited so long to see this and heard so many raves, but I wasn't. An awfully good movie.
