Review of Rubber (1936) by Jamie D — 31 May 2012
Beofre you see this, you expect it to just show a tyre going round killing everybody. It actually holds alot more than that. I could tell I was going to enjoy this film from the incredible opening monologue based on the 'No Reason'.
It sets up the film perfectly. Stephen Spinella is brilliant as the Lieutenant, bringing the funniest reactions and lines in the story. Mostly, it is hilarious. A particular sequence towards the end, before they attempt to apprehend the tyre and they are instructed on how to do it, had me in stitches.
A unique, original and consistently entertaining film. Plus, you really feel for Robert the Tyre. Now, that's good filmmaking!
