Review of Rubber (1936) by Drew R — 20 Sep 2013
I don't know what I just watched... Seriously, what just happened?
I think this movie may have been an attempt at some kind of commentary on modern cinema, though I'm not sure I'd buy what they're selling in that case. The other possibility here is that they made a movie just because they could. Obviously, that wasn't reason enough.
I could forgive all its shortcomings if only there were some sort of satisfying plot. I felt, however, that the movie just went on until there was no more script and then called it a day. There were some funny and interesting scenes here and there, but they just didn't make up for my general emotion which was "I want to stop watching this now.".
