Review of Roxanne (1987) by Kuppov N — 27 Apr 2009
Regarded as one of Steve Martin's more important roles, this adapted film retells the story of Cyrano De Bergerac and his prolific probiscis.
While Steve Martin is deft and charming, the most fun I had during this movie was watching the antics of the volunteer fire department bungle their way through one exercise after another.
Daryl Hannah has never been high on my list of starlets, and in this movie she is awkward, mannish and cliche. In fact, the real point of the story (the wooing of a woman's heart) feels clunky, poorly written and dull.
