Review of Rough Night (2017) by Dave M — 22 Jun 2017
I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy this film so much. For all of the absurdity it's very realistic and did a great job of capturing post college friendship. On my way to the theater I was thinking about film and tv and how now in the new golden age of tv.
You can devote a whole series to character development and in film you have a lot less time to develop characters and in ways it relies on stock characters so you can jump into the story. Having just been through several bachelor parties the past year including being a best man I can say Rough Night captures the nalstagia of college and what's it like to bring those people back into your life.
I rarely write reviews but when I saw how low the score was I realized this movie just hasn't found its audience. It was very funny and not nearly as over the top as I thought.
