Review of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1991) by Brian Z — 12 Nov 2007
This is a quick-witted movie with rapid-fire dialogue It twists the familiar tale of Hamlet through the eyes of incidental characters, who have discovered themselves at the opening of the play before their first stage appearance.
Gary Oldman in a role we don't often see: the good guy; Tim Roth as...a Tim Roth character: tortured, intelligent, questing; Richard Dreyfuss in my personal favorite of his roles. The characters are complex, and not entirely sure of themselves.
Or each other.
