Review of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1991) by Amanda O — 02 Jul 2010
My second favorite performance by Gary Oldman as Shakespeare's Rosencrantz. In this adapted for film play by Tom Stoppard, "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead" tells the tale of Hamlet through the eyes of two supporting characters.
Gary's Rosencrantz is an innocent, charming individual who doesn't quite have it all figured out. While he may be a bit slow, he is still curious, creative, and thinks very deeply. The interaction between Gary Oldman and Tim Roth (Guildenstern) is remarkable in this film.
They spew witty, interesting dialogue at every turn of the movie and their charm and likability makes this movie very enjoyable to watch.
