Review of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1991) by Christopher S — 09 Sep 2010
I fully admit that I have some sentimental reasons for loving this film.
But -- all sentiments aside, Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern is truly brilliant. (And believe me, I am not very generous with my 5 star ratings!).
This film is a trampoline of fun for your brain, it features the cleverest of detail and nuance that tease and tickle both the funnybone and the mind. It is great, perfect fun! An added bonus - the costumes and locations are gorgeous...
Those dark, shadowy Elizabethan minstrals will put on quite a show for you. But uh, if you don't know Hamlet, better brush up first or you'll be lost and not understand what's going on!
