Review of Rosemary's Baby (1968) by John A — 10 Sep 2012
This movie was awesome!! Well made and well acted, it was much more disturbing than I would thought its simple premise would provide. Eschewing gore and jump scares for subtlety and atmosphere, I was constantly imagining the horrific things that were going on behind what you were actually shown.
For being 42 years old the movie held up very well, people shying away because of the age of the film shouldn't worry, except for a couple of time-sensitive references (Vidal Sassoon was a new thing apparently) it was all very timeless and the pace rarely dragged.
I can see why this is considered a classic horror movie, although I wasn't "scared" per-say, I was very disturbed. The last few moments floored me as I was not expecting Rosemary's final reaction to the baby.
Highly recommend.
