Review of Rosemary's Baby (1968) by Nate W — 21 Oct 2012
An even slower and less atmospheric build than the previous thriller in his unofficial "Apartment Trilogy", "Repulsion", Polanski's faithful adaptation of the hit pulp novel "Rosemary's Baby" is a horror that avoids actually scaring the viewer, but unnerves him/her with the power of suggestion.
We can only make assumptions from the surreal conception dream sequence onward about the true nature of the infant Rosemary is carrying around inside of her, but it isn't explicitly revealed until the final scene.
We must go through Rosemary's ordeal as blind and paranoid as she is (as effectively evoked by Mia Farrow).
