Review of Rosemary's Baby (1968) by Eytan D — 16 May 2014
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant! While sticking very closely to Ira Levin's novel, Roman Polanski constructed a smart, at times hallucinatory, paranoid, and psychologically terrifying horror film that displays a commentary on the independence and position of women in the 60's.
"Rosemary's Baby" also works to extraordinary effect because of the perfect performances of Mia Farrow, Ruth Gordon, and John Cassavetes. The film still succeeds after 45 years. Not recommended for women who are expecting.
