Review of Rosemary's Baby (1968) by Jay S — 07 Oct 2018
An astonishingly focused film that never lets its genre trappings get a hold of its story and characters. Roman Polanski allows us to see horror, not through killers in masks or ghosts in the closet, but rather the physical and psychological deconstruction that a woman encounters while trying to have birth and being infected with paranoia.
The lack of flashy effects and in your face direction allows a truly horrifying story to build and build in one of the best paced build ups of one of the greatest horror films of all time.
