Review of Rosario (2013) by Ian P — 28 Jul 2013
A period drama movie said to be drawn from a real-life biography of business tycoon Manuel Pangilinan's grandmother - Rosario. Consists of a great ensemble of powerhouse casts, it depicts the life story of Rosario going through challenges that leads to temptation and scandal while proving her morals that seems to be against her time and her society.
The casts were strong and performed effectively to feel the story and character set in the 1920s. Dolphy and Jennylyn Mercado were notable but also the supporting casts of Sid Lucero, Eula Valdez and Ricky Davao as well.
While acting, costume, setting and sound are commendable, the story was either you-like or hate-it mode because of the flow story of which the main character is involved. It was a compelling and emotional drama but not a real down tearjerker movie because it some point it raises questions about the main characters morality, real happiness and unwise decisions in life.
