Review of Rope (1948) by Steph O — 07 Oct 2010
"Rope" is one of the few Hitchcock films I hadn't seen, so I was looking forward to watching it. James Stewart is amazing as always. John Dall is too - as one half of the creepy psychopathic duo that murder a friend of theirs for no particular reason.
"Rope" drags a bit in the middle to get to a seemingly average conclusion, but it's worth watching because it's Hitchcock and because of James Stewart. It's not the absolute best Hitchcock had to offer (so good god, please don't make this the first or only Hitchcock film you see) but it's still decent, with a strong message about morality and the sanctity of life.
