Review of Rope (1948) by Harsh A — 02 Jan 2011
This movie shot entirely in one house is one to give you goose bumps..This surprisingly does not come in any list of hitchcocks top ten..its testimony to the greatness of the director..
Two young men, one extremely confident and the other not so decide to murder a colleague based on their philosophy they imbibed from a teacher of theirs.. that inferior people have no right to live and can be murdered by superior people for no rhyme or reason..To spice it up they invite the parents of the dead colleague and the teacher for a party while the body is still in the house to test the perfectness of their crime..
Scenes where the maid removes articles frm the top of the chest where the dead body is awe inspiring..
Inspite of playing a supporting role James Stewart steals the show with his brilliant acting..mostly an actor who makes drama's, this performance was particularly amazing..
They don make them like this anymore..
