Review of Rope (1948) by Adrian B — 01 Apr 2011
"Rope" is one of Hitchcock's most innovative films, especially since the whole film is long shots. Two college students (Farley Granger, who recently passed away, and John Dall) kill a well respected student just for the fun of it.
They then throw a party, while his lifeless body is entombed in a just. They suspect they may be caught by one of their guests, of course that being James Stewart. This was the first of Alfred Hitchcock to be in colour.
This, however, is no where near his best film. It is a little bogged down in terms of staginess and kind of acted a little oddly for me. However, it still brings out fascination for the viewer.
