Review of Rope (1948) by Mike H — 19 May 2011
This movie basically has one scene and it still stands as one of Hitchcock's most suspenseful and visually interesting films. The closest modern equivalent I can think of is Sunset Limited, but even that movie looks frenetic compared to the "single take" philosophy of Rope.
You should see this movie for no other reason than to be exposed to the best textbook example of long take filming. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
