Review of Room 237 (2012) by Michael M — 15 Apr 2014
Room 237 provides intriguing (and occasionally a little farfetched) theories about Kubrick's hidden agenda with his filming of The Shining, but visually the movie is a waste of your attention. When the film isn't analyzing clues pinpointed in certain scenes of The Shining, the director doesn't really know what to put on the screen.
His answer is to put up scenes from a random collection of movies that don't really have purpose being in this film. This movie could work just as effectively, if not more so, as a radio program rather than a film.
I did dishes while only listening for a third of the movie and did not feel like I missed a thing.
