Review of Room 237 (2012) by Todd S — 04 Dec 2012
The idea sounds much more promising than the end result. A documentary on The Shining? Sweet! Sadly, it does not do the film justice. In fact, it's not so much about The Shining as it is about certain fanatical viewers.
80% of the theories are too far-fetched to even take seriously. One doesn't come away from Room 237 with much insight into Kubrick's masterpiece of horror. Instead it's mildly amusing with some tidbits that are thought-provoking.
The highlight would probably be the Moon Landing conspiracy (which was explored better in a previous documentary). Still, as an avid Shining fan, hearing anything about the film is interesting but the documentary works more like a featurette one would watch online.
