Review of Room 237 (2012) by Caleb S — 17 Oct 2013
Only because I am a Stephen King fan did I watch this documentary and while I do not dislike Kubricks's version of The Shinning I am not a fan either. Room 237 is a conspiracy theorists dream. Every dust particle is examined and given significance.
Kubrick obviously had underlying motives to every scene and every prop was an opportunity for him to feed his audience full of subliminal messages. Take for example the snowflake on the far left of the screen 75th from the bottom.
Do you recall how it had a jagged edge that tapered off to make it look like a cliff? Obviously Kubrik has an issue with the way the ancient caveman hunted the mammoth (by running them off the side of cliffs) thus he sees the opportunity to make a statement against that terrible display of humanity.
For all these legitimate conspiracies Room 237 is a must see.....and if you don't catch the sarcasm you deserve to watch it.
