Review of Room 237 (2012) by Sawyer R — 10 Nov 2013
We've had a good 30 years to analyze the Shining at this point, and it's popularity and growing reception makes it the ideal film for a documentary. Room 237 truly understands the appeal of Stanley Kubrick's enigmatic directing style, and the interviewees are all experts on the area.
Some of the theories regarding The Shining's subtext are stronger than others, but overall the film enlightens the less cinema-minded on what to look out for in films of this nature. One of the better documentaries on film in recent years.
