Review of Room (2015) by William P — 08 Apr 2016
This film is a masterpiece of visual storytelling and a brilliant set piece for some of the greatest performances of the year. Director Lenny Abrahamson handles this story with extreme care and excellent detail.
The cinematography is brilliant, especially for such a small film with small locations. Actress Brie Larson deserves all of her awards. Her role as the mother of a young child born in captivity is phenomenal to say the least.
Of course, Jacob Tremblay is the one who stole every scene he was in. His energy and portrayal of a kid who's world is expanding beyond belief is one that will be remembered for years to come. The music was surprising.
It has been a long time since I have watch a film that was so rich and engaging that, upon first viewing, I was attached to the characters at once. I do not recall the last time I saw a movie that made me smile and laugh at the little things; it makes me so joyous when happiness is bestowed upon little Jack and his "Ma.
" This movie was moving, to say the least. This is the best film of 2015.
