Review of Ronin (1998) by Dustin E — 16 Dec 2008
One of the best Frankenheimer films ever produced.. that you've never heard of. Ronin was a movie that suffered from poor marketing based upon the decision of when it was released.
This is probably one of the best and more believable action movies ever made. The story is one that will keep you guessing right up to the end, but is never too far fetched. If you're the kind of person who likes to get up and do other things while watching a movie you'll be lost.
The cast for the time is one of the best. De Niro is in one of his most entertaining roles. Sean Bean's short appearance is very convincing, and a tribute to his great ability. Pryce is an incredible and sadistic villain. Stellan Skarsgard (Bootstrap Bill Turner) is excellent as always. The real surprise in the movie though is the brilliant Jean Reno's character of Vincent.
If you like action (best car chase scenes ever filmed), espionage, great characters, and plots that really keep you thinking, you really shouldn't pass this up.
