Review of Romeo and Juliet (1968) by Amanda C — 08 Aug 2008
At first, I was having trouble getting past the dated sound design and mono track, but after absorbing myself into some amazing production design, costume design, and powerful directing and performances by all, easily helped me get past its flaws. The source material is sometimes difficult to except, but when did Shakespeare ever conform to the audience? What we love about Shakespearean works is that we must enter his world and his romantic vision. The soundtrack also stood out as exceptionally moving.
