Review of Romeo and Juliet (1968) by Lucas Y — 17 Sep 2008
I thought that the Baz Luhrmann verison was better than this. Maybe because I felt that I could relate to it since it was made more for a younger audience. Unlike this version, it was more towards the script than the Luhrmann.
This one was good in some ways but I didnt really like it. Romeo who looks a lot like Zac Efron sometimes, did a good job. Although the actors were younger I felt that they didnt show as much passion as the movie should have had.
Sure they kissed and all but the camera didnt capture the moment like it did in Luhrmann's. It was also a bit slow. The balony scene went on for ages a bit like the death scene. In the Luhrumann version it was more up tempo and kept things moving even though it was still a scene.
The clothes in this version was a bit distracting too. The tights I wasnt a fan of.
