Review of Romeo and Juliet (1968) by Dryorophus — 13 Feb 2010
Romeo and Juliet is just another of Shakespeare's famous plays brought to life in a movie. I read the play back in high school and then we watched this movie. I must admit I enjoyed this. The play is much better but this was a solid interpretation.
Romeo and Juliet is the classic love story. Two young people who fall in love but are not allowed to be together due to some family feuds. So in the end they take their own lives if they can not be together for life.
There is a little bit more to the story than just that but it is the basic plot. Typical Shakespeare with a tragic ending. The look of the film still holds up today. Not sure if I would consider this version a classic but it is enjoyable.
Worth a watch if you like the works of Shakespeare.
