Review of Romeo and Juliet (1968) by Russell G — 05 Jan 2012
I will be the first to admit I tend to hate reading Shakespeareâ(TM)s plays and downer movies in general, but even I have to admit that this was a quality film. I was impressed with the acting and appreciated having real teenagers to portray the actual teenage characters.
Relatively little happens in the plot but it is done well. It stays true to the play making only a few tasteful cuts. The scenery, setting, wardrobe all look great and it helps to bring the story to life.
The so-called great dialogue is a minus for me and is my main complaint, but remember I hate how Shakespeare writes and words things.
