Review of Romancing the Stone (1984) by Calum B — 17 Sep 2012
Speaking of someone who hasn't even heard of this film up until recently, I gotta say Romancing The Stone was really good. Yeah I know because of the year it came out, you can totally tell it's trying to be like Indiana Jones which I get why people hated, but seriously this film has it's own ideas as well.
Yeah it kind of feels like The Temple Of Doom with better a love story to it, but it's so much more than that, it's an exploring, adventurous, romantic comedy. I know lots of people think True Lies was the first movie to bring Action/Adventure and Romance/Comedy together and if you think that your wrong because Romancing The Stone was the first film that did it.
I know a lot of people don't know what this movie even is and that's okay, all I'm asking is for people to give this movie a watch. No it's not better than the Indiana Jones movies, but it is funny, action-packed and really well directed.
Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner play the two leads in this movie and I thought they were both great together, they had great chemistry and you were really routing for there characters to be together.
I honestly don't want to spoil this movie because it is really good, so I'm just recommending it and I hope people watch it and enjoy it.
