Review of Romance & Cigarettes (2005) by Grant W — 04 Jan 2009
A lot of shtick, but only about half of it schtuck. This film spends so long trying to be 'wacky' that it forgets to develop any actual plot or depth. By the time it does come around, its far too late.
The back of the case said a Springsteen song was covered in here too? Did I miss it or did they just do a 'later' Springsteen song that I didn't recognise because they all started being as contrived and grating as this film after 1982? I guess it does have enough quirks to be worth its place on my shelf though.
.. it better be - I bought the damned thing!
