Apparently, Turturro & Co are in on some joke (or insight) that I am not aware of, because this bizarre pseudo-musical fails to captivate or give the viewer an in-point. Wrapping your movie around pop songs (Across The Universe, Mamma Mia) is already questionable.
Doing it without a sense of complete necessity is even worse.
