Review of Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired (2008) by Dave G — 12 Jun 2008
Begins with the appeal of sick fascination with an artist, but quickly devolves into a documentary that tries to exonerate a possible pedophile. The point is, Polanski is an artist whose life struggles, the murder of his wife, his exile in France, all of it, overshadows his art.
Oscar Wilde was much the same, but we don't judge Oscar Wilde. Time will tell, which makes this documentary pointless. To be honest, I actually fell asleep and had to rewind; there's nothing like a rape case to put you to sleep.
