Review of Roman Holiday (1953) by Peter T — 19 Aug 2009
This is Audrey at her best. She certainly graces the screen in a way that is unparallel to any other actress (especially one so young). Though the beginning is a little weak, the film blooms and changes for the better as much as Audrey's character.
Of course, Gregory Peck is great,--and though he thought Audrey stole the show, he held his own just fine. This is much like "Casablanca" (1942): a Hollywood film that's not a Hollywood film.
Be prepared to be surprised.
