Review of Roman Holiday (1953) by Anthony V — 14 Feb 2011
An important film, not only as Audrey Hepburn's first, but as an influence for Hollywood to leave the studios and shoot on location. It's also a visual prelude to the New Wave films. None of that would matter if it wasn't any good, but in addition to all these things it has a witty script, visually stunning, and a semi-tragic love story all expertly directed with a great cast.
This film is a classic, in the sense that it is a timeless work of art.
