Review of Roman Holiday (1953) by Sarah M — 26 Jan 2012
In a word, beautiful. Hepburn might have invented the 'girl next door' character for the silver screen in one magic wave of the hand here. She brings all the graces, yet none of the heirs to the true role of a princess.
Director William Wyler is able to develop a subtelty that is characteristic to the golden age of Hollywood to each scene. The romantic scent between Hepburn and Peck occupies the air against the backdrop of ancient Rome, as the audience cannot help but fall in love with the princess. :).
