Review of Roman Holiday (1953) by Alex G — 09 Dec 2018
Beautiful, sad, touching and captivating. Two people abandon society's expectations for a moment of escape. Hepburn's performance is incredible and the relationship that develops between her and Peck is unbelievable.
I honestly didn't know how they would sell me on the idea of his character being redeemable or her knowing the truth about him without painting an ugly picture about their whole affair. But when you realize he has been going along and doing what's expected of him this whole time, only to have a moment like she has had this whole day--to realize he doesn't have to be this thing he's become.
And almost the entire final act hitting hardest when not a single word was said. This film is freaking incredible.
