Review of Roma (2018) by Amy Taubin for Artforum — 30 Nov 2018
Roma is not so much a memory piece but a corrective to memory. It will become more harrowing before it ends, but love will triumph in an ocean ending that's more oceanic than anything I've experienced in the movies, and maybe in life itself.
