Review of Roly Poly (1968) by Jeff H — 11 Dec 2010

Perhaps a second viewing will open the film up a bit more because I was mostly uninterested throughout, it had a pretty good beginning but soon the film just started going all over the place, what exactly Daniel Craig's character was asked to do I'm not sure.

Daniel Craig gives a great performance but his character is pretty under-written. I guess I just didn't find anything new that the film had to say, it's a typical gangster film told in a typical fashion that doesn't allow us to connect with the main character like 'Goodfellas' does so well, sure the film has some style and some pop music thrown in but that only goes so far.

With a weak script the film just doesn't hold up. I will watch it again though to be sure.
