Review of Roly Poly (1968) by George P — 02 Mar 2011
Sassy British crime thriller. Feels very post-Trainspotting with all the drugs, violence, and oh-so-cool soundtrack. Daniel Craig is on top form as the career drug dealer who suddenly finds himself in hot water.
Set in London, the film manages to avoid a lot of the usual cliches with not a single Pearly King or jellied eel in sight. For that alone the director deserves a pat on the back. Layer Cake sags a bit in the middle but overall an enjoyable waste of time.
