Review of Rollerball (2002) by Timothy S — 08 Jan 2008
An outstanding, thrilling and surprisingly complex dissection on the abdication of power by the general populace. The rollerball sequences are still fascinating and very exciting as well as being easy to follow, unlike the bewhildering "prequel" released in 2002.
James Caan is great of course, but John Houseman pretty much runs away with the movie as the cold and effete corporate executive.
The film is stacked with classic scenes, such as the disgustingly decadent shooting of trees, the mental collapse of zero the liquid supercomputer and of course, the final massively brutal battle between Houston and New York.
JONATHAN! JONATHAN!
