Review of Role Models (2008) by Phil F — 11 Sep 2011
The fun of Role Models is that it's a high-concept movie executed with speed and finesse and the kind of brusquely tossed-off obscene banter that can get you laughing before you know what hit you. Wild, rude and hysterical buddy movie which is pretty simular to Paul Rudd's other movie 'I Love You Man'. A great example of the Emotionally Stunted Men Grow A Heart sub-genre. Rudd, who co-wrote the script with director David Wain (among others), clearly learned a few things working on Judd Apatow comedies. Role Models staves off the January blues and puts a marker down as 2009's laugh-out-loud comedy to beat. Sometimes a shamelessly stoopid, proudly profane comedy is all you want out of life. Role Models more than fills the bill. It's killer funny.
VERDICT: "Full Price" - My second highest rating (Positive to Mixed reaction). This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent.
