Review of Rogue Trader (1999) by Rebecca T — 13 Nov 2007
The title captured my interest as a business student. The film was neither entertaining nor appealing in any way to say the least. Yet Nick's indulgence, pride, and seeming pressures bring to mind a few verses in Proverbs.
18:12 "Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility.".
11:2 When pride comes, then comes dishonor, But with the humble is wisdom.
16:18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
29:23 A man's pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.
To avoid staging our own fall, let us remember that in all ambition, (15:33) The fear of the LORD is the instruction for wisdom, And before honor comes humility.
We're after the "bonus" alright! But one of a totally different nature.
