Review of Rogue Trader (1999) by Scott G — 19 Apr 2008
Ewan mcgregor plays nick leeson, in a true story of a stock market trader in singapor, who through trying to hide his losses brought down barings, one of the last private banks in the u.k, we se him.
, through thinking career before business sence, set up dummy acounts, when anything goes wrong but goes way over his head, mcgregor shows here why hes such a great actor, getting into nicks skin and charactor, loosing his scottish acent and replacing it with a londoner, ie works well, its great looking at the workings of a working bank and its finances, and certainly looks very authentic, although the film sometimes feels a little t.v movie, it always overcomes it, mcgregor showing panic very well, its said at the end of it all he dident steel a penny, that may be open to dabate, and certainly one sided story, but a great watch.
