Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Let me first start off with saying that Rogue One was perfectly crafted and had me intensely watching the entire time. From acting to production to sound effects to graphics it was done with such perfection. When Disney bought Lucas Films and the Star Wars name I was unsure of how they were going to fit new movies in. But Rogue one answered all my questions.
Rogue One is placed before the first Star Wars "A New Hope". While the Empire is in the midst of building a super weapon that can destroy planets and overall the Rebel Alliance. The film features the main character Jyn Erso, daughter of the headmost scientist in the creation of the super weapon that is known as the Death Star. Jyn is the Rebel Alliances only hope as she holds a message from her father that tells her about the Death Star and its oh so well hidden weakness. The weakness, that most Star Wars fans already know, that may play a big part in a different already stated movie (A New Hope).
The directing and acting in this is phenomenal. The way the director makes Jyn and Cassian embody the true meaning of the rebel alliance is what makes their characters so believable. Both Jyn and Cassian will do anything to get the job done and stop the Empire from using this super weapon. Also the camera angles made you seem as though you were fighting right along with them. There was something special about the use of the low angle shots of the Empires leaders and Darth Vader that made you feel the immense power they have.
The quality of the movie was beyond amazing. The graphics and sound effects made you feel like you were right in the war scenes. It is leaps and bounds above any previously made Star Wars film in all aspects. I especially liked how vivid and bright the colors were. When watching the beach scene at the Empires ground base everything looks picture perfect like they actually built all of the structures. That had me in awe the whole time. .
One minor problem I had with the movie was the lack of background information of the new characters. We never got to learn to much about the new characters, which made it hard to feel like they were real and three-dimensional. This lack of background information may be because of the quick pace of the movies development. Another minor complaint I had is the fact that they left out the slow iconic yellow words scrolling up the screen in every movie. But I see why they wouldn't do that since this movie takes place between two movies. Overall it didn't make that much of a difference in the viewing experience but if added it could have added a greater understanding of the movie.
The stunning all-around performances by the actors, director, and everyone else in the production of the movie made this movie a success. As a Star Wars fan I was pleased by how this movie turned out. I wouldn't hesitate to see it again and neither should you.
