Review of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) by Me D — 29 Dec 2018

I wondered to see "The Last Jedi" or this film as the last film from the Star Wars univers I saw was "The Force Awakens". I went for the one that follows in years - with our earthian clock, and I was left with mixed feelings.

This is the story of the daughter of an scientist that has something to do with the Empire and the production of the Death Star. He is a good man, but he is under the lead of the bad ones. She is up for a resque mission and boy do we get action. It's plenty of fighting here, but very little story. I fell out at times and all I saw was Storm Troopers, lazers and explotions. I never really got why, but it was action all right. After a while the really big fight is there - now I knew the point of it and it was a better one that made more sense for me.

If I have figured it right, this is the story of a not too important person of the universe that's been told just to keep the frenchaise going (read earn money) and to keep the fans happy. It works in a way - I'm in the right state, I get the characters that I want and I get easy entertainment. Still, it seem slack and a bit half-hearted. It's even repitative and it lacks the sweet snappyness that the best films of the series got. I dig the blind dude, though.

OK, but for me it's not really included in the real story, it's just an add-on that brings you more of the same, with a sloppier story. It's fun to see felow Norwegian Ingvild Deila as princess Leia for a second here. They seem pretty darn identical too me.
