Review of Rogue (2007) by Lee M — 06 Aug 2008
Creature feature! And another croc movie too, inside few years. It's the basic setup of a group getting isolated on a distant place with some killer animal, with no cell phone network. This time they at least had a reason not to have a signal, as they were in the middle of the Australian outback.
Everything leading up to the final twenty minutes of the movie is pretty lame, but the showdown with the main attraction is pretty sweet. Not enough to save the whole movie, but pretty sweet. Naturally, there's the token dude who cracks under pressure and gets someone else killed. Not to mention the too bold a hero who gets eaten among the first ones. The list goes on. There is a certain formula to these things, and that's all right if the end product is entertaining. This movie takes way too long to start but there is some redemption in the end.
Nothing to write home about, though, and definitely nothing to write home about more than three paragraphs. This film certainly had a minuscule budget, but it does a great job hiding it. If you are hip to some creature mayhem, check it out, otherwise move along.
