Review of Rogue (2007) by Tony D — 06 Jul 2008
I like monster movies. I like films that have simple premises. this is a monster movie with simple premise. Bunch of people in the outback get trapped on a small bank in the middle of a river whilst being stalked by a pissed off crocodile, it sounds stupid but it works, people dont go off doing things that annoy you in their stupidity.
..they react in a manner to which you can readily see as being believable and therein lies the scare factor, even the audience cant see what must be done in order to survive. The film excels because its not done in a tacky way ( save the ending which is a little bit hard to fathom ) although I would criticise the lead "hero" as just being someone you dont reaaaaally care about and radha mitchell in a role that whilst she is good at is a little too similar to her character in pitch black.
