Review of Rogue (2007) by Catherine H — 26 Jul 2008
I unashamedly love Wolf Creek - abuse me all you like but I walked out of that movie theater feeling like I really had a great movie experience, so I was really interested to check out Greg McLean's follow up, "Rogue" - in which he continues his assault on the Australian tourist board. This time with crocodiles instead of serial killers.
Solid cast, cool croc - I liked that they actually used a realistic sized one too. Apparently larger ones exist. So I felt it stayed the right side of silly. And the scenery was beautiful. Even Matt admitted that. A KIWI complimenting Australia. I'm pretty sure you can get kicked out of NZ for that.
But at the end of the day, these movies have just been done to death and it's hard to find any original ways of people being chomped. I enjoyed it and it's a fun watch but it wasn't quite the thrill ride I was after.
Still a John Jarrett fan though - I think he's amazing.
