Review of Rogue (2007) by Chase K — 12 Nov 2008
Panda is as expected -- incredible animation, pretty funny, great voicework all around -- obviously it's not WALL-E, but like the great Michael Phillips said, it isn't trying to be. It's another in the long line of kidult good-time animated blockbusters looking to capture the 9 year-old kid and the mom who dragged them there..
.
It's probably the best Dreamwork animated feature -- I can't stand Shrek, and Madagascar, Shark Tale and the like are riddled with one too many pop-culture references and their inconsistently funny. Overall, good times...and Panda looks great in Blu... .
.
Rogue isn't bad at all -- it's 100x better than the Prom Night's and One Missed Call's of this world -- and also pretty much every other horror film that actually was granted a release in theaters this year..
.
That being said, it's formulaic, predictable and (even at 90 minutes) too long. Their just weren't any great moments -- or terrible ones. It gets a 'meh' from me....
