Review of Rogue (2007) by Tyler H — 28 Feb 2011
A horror film with credibility - therefore nowhere to hide from your fear. Just as Open Water took the viewer into the film and the film into the viewer's mind, this is cinematic brilliance. But that's only half a movie - a sense of suspense but not uncertainty leaves the viewer comforted by the 'happy ending' potential. Maybe it's the childlike charm of the classless australian society; we know they wouldn't stoop to exploit a true tragedy, so a happy ending is coming.
Enjoy it though, and hope it's the future. Hollywood financiers should be shown the budget and the quality of the product, the originality. New and larger audiences will surely follow.
