Review of Rocky V (1990) by Daniel D — 11 May 2012
I don't understand why this film is so badly reviewed. I honestly thought that it was the best one of the series (or at least of the first five, I haven't seen the 6th yet). At the very least, it was a huge improvement over some of the manufactured ridiculousness of Rocky IV. The only thing that I would have done differently is that *SPOILER* at the end of the movie, after Rocky beat up Tommy, I would have had them say something to each other that made clear that Tommy had learned something from the beating - and I also would have not had Rocky punch Duke. It would have been far more effective for him to walk away as if Duke wasn't even worth his time or strength (and we also wouldn't be left thinking that Rocky, already poor, probably did get sued). *END SPOILER*.
Other than the ending though, I thought this movie was very well done, and had perhaps the most heart of the bunch. Good job to Sylvester Stallone.
